(SKIPPING DOWN) NARROW PASSAGES
Artwork by Krista C. Graham, Deja Vu, acrylic on canvas

(SKIPPING DOWN) NARROW PASSAGE

Nearness of walls heightens hysteria
Alley graffitied with hopscotch chalking
Running scared/ unfamiliar area
Realizing 'you are gone' is shocking
Once skipped with hearts and hands interlocking
We played hopscotch/ we enjoyed the skipping

Partially awake, and yet sleepwalking
Abandoned, exterior paint chipping
Soaked by tear-flood, lack of weatherstripping
Still I skip onward, as-straight-as-a-crow
Almost losing my balance and tripping
Going fast-forward, now playing solo
Expecting to exit- grande finale
Skipping away/ unfamiliar alley
