Slowly Morphing Into Fall

August expires
sun roasts dead grass

humidity blankets summer
intentions with air conditioned

musk intercepted by paper
filters from Home Depot

designed to be changed monthly
saturated by second week with

toxins detoured from human lungs.

Whoever says global warming
is not real clearly has never spent
a summer in New Jersey.

Judy Shepps Battle has been writing essays and poems long before retiring from being psychotherapist and sociology professor. She is a New Jersey resident, addictions specialist, consultant and freelance writer.
